How
to use the Wind Speed Map
1.Find
the total EPA (Effective Projected Area) of all the attachments being mounted
on the pole, including associated drag coefficients, from the suppliers. The EPA
of support arm(s) should also be included.
2.Determine
the total distance of all luminaire's from the pole. This is usually the same
as the length of the support arms.
3.Locate
the geographical area for the pole installation on the wind speed map. Determine
the Maximum Steady Wind Velocity for that location.
4.Select
the appropriate graph for the determined wind speed.
5.Plot
the total EPA (in ft²) from 1. above on the x-axis.
6.Plot
the total distance of the luminaire's from the pole (in ft²) from 2., above
on the y-axis.
7.Find
the point on the graph where the two lines intersect. The class of the pole can
be read from the Class line above that point.
