Simple Direct Embedment
The most common method for installing a concrete pole is by direct embedment. The pole is placed into an augered hole on a granular base and back filled with native or selective soil.

Advantages of direct embedment over base mounting:

  • Faster installation, more poles per workcrew per day.
  • Independence from foundation contractors schedule.
  • Extra pole length for embedment is less costly than separate foundation.
  • Structural continuity between pole and foundation.
  • Instant completion of ground around pole.
  • Clean, neat final appearance in sod, concrete or asphalt.

Socket and Baseplate Mounting
Sky Cast supplies concrete poles for either socket or baseplate mounting for applications where direct embedment is either undesirable or unfeasible.
Sockets may be installed flush to grade or poured at desired height to act as extra protection from impact. Baseplates are anchored into poured concrete foundations.
